Super-simple pumpkin vase

Transform a small round pumpkin into a stylishly seasonal vase filled with colorful blooms.

Materials

8-inch-diameter pumpkin in desired color
Dawn Ultra Dish Soap
Bounty Paper Towels
Newspapers
Knife
Large spoon or pumpkin scoop
Small cylindrical container (sized to fit within pumpkin)
Water
Flower food (optional)
Seasonal cut flowers (dahlias, cockscombs or carnations are great choices)
Scissors

Instructions

  1. Wash the pumpkin with warm water and a few drops of Dawn Ultra Dish Soap, and dry it thoroughly with Bounty Paper Towels
  2. Place the pumpkin on a newspaper before cutting off the top with a knife. The opening you cut should be big enough to accommodate the container chosen to hold the flowers

Tip: Use the outside rim of the container as a template for cutting. Place the container on top of the pumpkin and draw around the edge with a pen; use the traced circle as a cutting guide.

  1. Using a large spoon or scoop, remove the pulp and seeds. Try to make the bottom of the pumpkin cavity as level as possible so the container will stand up straight
  2. Place the small container inside the pumpkin, and then fill it almost to the top with water. Add flower food if desired
  3. Using scissors, trim the flower stems to desired lengths. Place the tallest flowers in the center of the container. Spiral out from the center flowers as you insert consecutively shorter ones until the arrangement is full enough to stand upright

Tip: Swap out the vase for potting soil and plant small succulents or mums in the pumpkin.

Puffy paint pumpkins

White painted pumpkins make for a bold centerpiece, while the puffy paint designs add a touch of whimsy.

Materials

Large pumpkin
Dawn Ultra Dish Soap
Bounty Paper Towels
Painter’s tape
Newspapers
Craft paint in white
Large sponge brush
Puffy paint in desired color(s)
Glittery plastic spider
Pencil

Instructions

  1. Wash the pumpkin with Dawn Ultra Dish Soap, and dry it with Bounty Paper Towels. Wrap painter’s tape around the stem
  2. Place the pumpkin on top of newspapers. Using a large sponge brush, paint each pumpkin white. After the first coat of paint dries, paint a second coat if needed for complete coverage. Remove painter’s tape from the stem
  3. Plan your puffy paint design. Consider cobwebs, stripes, dots and simple graphics like flowers
  4. Using a pencil, sketch your desired design on the pumpkin’s white-painted surface. Carefully paint the design with puffy paint
  5. Clean up your pumpkin decorating station with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser – it has two times stronger cleaning performance than the leading all-purpose bleach spray, so it can remove tough messes

Tip: Finish your pumpkin display with Febreze WAX MELTS in Fresh Fall Pumpkin – and warm them in the Febreze Wax Warmer – so your home will smell as fall fresh as it looks.
