Family Memento Gallery

This project presents a simple way to beautifully display heartfelt family mementos.

Difficulty: Easy

Materials
2 family photos, 4" × 6"
2 paper mementos, about 8½" × 11"
1 personal family memento, about 25" × 25"
(2) 5" × 7" frames with 4" × 6" photo mat
(2) 16" × 20" frames (or an appropriate size for your memento)
(1) 30" x 30" shadow box frame (or an appropriate size for your memento)
Clear tape
Spray adhesive
Linen fabric, 34" × 34"
30" × 30" luan plywood
Nail gun
Nail brads
Adhesive hook and loop fasteners
D-rings
Picture wire

Steps

  1. Place family photos into the 5" × 7" frames. Use clear tape to help secure their positions to the photo mat
  2. Insert the paper mementos into the 16" × 20" frames

  3. Constructing the Shadow Box
  4. Apply spray adhesive to one side of the luan plywood. Then attach the linen to the luan, leaving about 2" excess on all edges of the plywood

  5. Flip the luan over. Spray adhesive along the edges of it and fold the excess linen down, flush to the edge of the luan

  6. Position the luan face down on the shadow box frame. Use the nail gun to insert nails along the edges of the frame to attach the two together

  7. Flip the shadow box over. Adhere the adhesive hook-and-loop fasteners to the memento you are attaching to the shadow box, and then position it in the center of the shadow box

  8. Lastly, attach picture wire and D-rings to the back of the frame to hang it on the wall
