Serape-Upholstered Ottoman

Upgrade an existing ottoman with gorgeous serape fabric and pom-pom trim.

Difficulty: Easy

Materials
Ottoman
Serape fabric
Staple gun and staples
Scissors
Pom-pom trim
Hammer
1" brad nails

Steps
  1. Remove the ottoman legs

  2. Lay the serape fabric face down on your work surface, and place the top of the ottoman cushion on the fabric. Decide how much fabric is needed to cover the top. (No need to measure; just fold up the fabric to determine how much you will need.) When you cut, leave a couple inches of excess fabric on each side so you can fold over the hems before stapling the fabric down

  3. Staple the serape to the underside of the ottoman, pulling the fabric taut as you work

  4. Fold the corners in a way similar to wrapping a present

  5. After the serape is completely stapled to the ottoman, trim the excess fabric

  6. Reattach the legs to the ottoman

  7. Attach pom-pom trim by stapling or nailing it around the ottoman’s base
