This project combines cotton rope and chalk paint to create a textured planter with lots of character.

Difficulty: Easy

Ruler or tape measure
Cotton rope in various widths
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Decorative items (as desired)
Chalk paint

  1. Measure the length of the planter with a ruler or tape measure

  2. Measure and mark the same length on the rope

  3. Cut the rope at the mark, and use it as a template to cut enough rope of the same length to cover the entire planter

  4. Apply a few dabs of hot glue gun to the pot, and add the first piece of rope vertically

  5. Repeat step 4 until the entire pot is covered in rope

  6. Use scissors to cut the excess rope at the top and bottom of the pot to even out the edges

  7. Add decorative elements, such as small pom-poms, with hot glue

  8. Once the rope is set, apply enough chalk paint to cover the entire planter
