When you have clothes, family and odors coming in and out of your laundry room, a good organization system can help freshen up your space. To make the most of your laundry day routine, try dividing tasks into 3 separate organized areas.

Area 1: Dirty Clothes Sorting Station

  • Create a sorting station for dirty clothes by placing hampers, plastic storage bins or even newly purchased trashcans in your laundry room. You can even make your own laundry chest out of an old desk! Consider organizing clothes by color, material or family member, using labels to spell out your system.
  • With dirty clothes piling up, try maintaining a clean scent in your laundry room. To keep your space fresh for 30 days, use Febreze® Set & Refresh in Linen & Sky™ scent. It has 100% scented oils that don’t overpower or require a battery or plug.

Tip: Line each individual family member’s hamper with a laundry bag so just the bag can easily be carried to the laundry room for sorting.

Area 2: Washing and Drying

  • Maximize the space above or around your washer and dryer with shelving, hooks or a line for air-drying delicate items. We find shelves with built-in coat racks to be especially convenient for hanging clothes fresh out of the dryer. It helps keep them wrinkle free!
  • Set your detergent, fabric softener, stain fighter, dryer sheets and more in one easy-to-access box that can be set on your washing machine when in use and stowed away when laundry’s complete.
  • Consider placing a small wastebasket right next to your dryer so you can easily toss away lint collected in the filter or used dryer sheets as you empty and fill your dryer.

Tip: If space allows, stack a few laundry baskets on your shelving or near your washer and dryer. We like to have a few on hand, so while one person’s laundry occupies a basket, there’s always another available.

Area 3: Easy Access Folding Center

  • Dedicate a space in your laundry room to folding. After wiping down the tops of your washer and dryer, consider using the surface as a folding space.
  • If space allows, attach a hinged table to the wall that can swing down when needed and latch up when not in use.
  • If your laundry room is in a large area, like a basement, a repurposed table can make a perfect folding station. But if you’re tight on space, try placing a folding table in your laundry room’s closet. Just set it up when it’s time to fold.

Tip: Open your laundry room’s closet door to the fresh scent of Meadows & Rain when you place a Febreze Set & Refresh on a shelf. It’s great for keeping small spaces smelling fresh!
