How to Apply Chalkboard Paint

No matter what you’re using chalkboard paint to organize, properly apply it by following our Chalkboard Paint Tips. And don’t feel limited to traditional green and black; nowadays, it comes in tons of colors. You can even make it yourself:

  • DIY Chalkboard Paint: For every 1 cup of acrylic or latex paint, mix in 2 tablespoons unsanded grout (available at home improvement stores). Stir until smooth and paint it on in small sections. Once dry, prepare the chalkboard for use: rub a piece of chalk over the entire surface, then erase thoroughly.
