    There are two places where sports equipment belongs: on the field and in an organizer. Throw equipment clutter a curveball by finding it a good home with our easy, inspiring tips – helpful for anything from bats and balls to skates and shoes.

Bats, Golf Clubs or Hockey Sticks

  • Mount pegboards, and you can attach hooks for storing items like hockey sticks. A variety of pegboard accessories are available at hardware stores, including organizers like baskets you can use to sort small items (think golf tees).
  • Place bats and extra golf clubs in a new trashcan, and label it to prevent garbage from accidentally getting tossed inside.

Balls

  • In a garage, repurpose old coolers as storage for baseballs or tennis balls. You can also use baskets, crates or buckets.
  • Stretch exercise elastic across the front (or sides, too) of open shelves. It makes basketballs, footballs or soccer balls easy to grab while preventing them from falling when stored.

Protective Gear & Apparel

  • When hanging uniforms, try color-coding hangers based on sport. Essential accessories like gloves can even be pinned to a hanger with clothespins.
  • Keep protective gear like pads, shin guards and helmets in one easy-to-find place by sorting them in laundry baskets. After a big game, loved ones can easily toss their gear in a basket to be freshened.

Athletic Shoes & Skates

  • Read our shoe organization ideas, and you’ll have no problem finding footwear a safe spot – whether it’s stored in a clothing closet, laundry room or somewhere else.
  • Prepare for messy, muddy shoes or skates after playtime, practice or games. Keep a fabric duffle bag in your car so items can be stored without causing a big mess. We recommend fabric, as it’s easy to wash or refresh. To prevent the bag from rolling around, set it in a crate.
