The old saying, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression" applies to your home, too. An attractive and organized entrance tells guests you take pride in your home and you're eager to share it with them.

Clear the Closet

ubr body ol img ar052 An organized hall closet is key to maintaining a clean entrance. Clear the closet of all non-essential coats and other items, and keep plenty of empty hangers for guest coats. Devote at least one shelf to hats, gloves and scarves, and place a rug with rubber backing on the floor where wet boots and shoes can go. Install a closet light so you can see everything and keep it well organized.

Plant a Tree

An old-fashioned hall tree can be an important element of an enticing entrance. Use your hall tree for wet coats and hats, but hang them up in the closet as soon as they're dry. Place an attractive umbrella stand next to your hall tree to keep your umbrellas in a central place and easily accessible on rainy days.
