A common thing to do when you have damaged fabrics is to actually take a piece of the undamaged fabric with you, whether its a curtain or a pillow from the sofa, to the fabric store so that you can match it up. What's not so commonly known is how to actually replace or match a piece of damaged wood surface. You can take hardwood floors, for example, and you can match that up with whats usually left is a piece of hardwood flooring that you have when the floors were installed. Or you can take a piece of furniture, and just take the drawer and match the color up there. A lot of times in your mind you think, "I remember what the color is," but the best way to remember is to actually take a sample of the color with you.
