Washi tape is popular in the DIY home décor arena, used to adorn jars, vases, boxes, cards and a variety of other items. Discover what it is and how can you start incorporating it into your décor, too!

What is Washi Tape?

Made from paper and available in a variety of colors and patterns, washi tape is similar in texture to masking tape, but much stronger. Originating from Japan, washi tape is made from tree bark, most commonly from gampi or mulberry trees and from mitsumata shrubs.

Where to Find Washi Tape

Purchase it online or at your local arts and crafts store. Visiting a local store is a great way to touch and feel the tape and maybe grab a couple of starter rolls, but shopping online will provide you with a lot more options.
