A thin water-based paint, color wash highlights wood’s naturally beautiful grain. We love the rustic look it gives kitchen cabinets, but the technique works just as well on other painted or raw wood furniture.

Materials
Wood cabinet doors
Screwdriver
Electric sander
Damp cloth, for cleaning
Color wash, color(s) of your choice
Paintbrush
Wood sealant

Instructions
1. With a screwdriver, take the doors off of your cabinets and remove all hardware from them.
2. Sand cabinet doors to remove paint or stain, then clean off dust with a damp cloth.
3. Apply wood sealant. Let dry completely before re-hanging cabinets.

Tip: Consider color washing the base cabinets the same hue, or try a complementary color.
