Few things are as exciting as moving into a new home, and if you or someone you know is doing so, we have some great ideas for hosting a housewarming party. Whether it's for a first time homebuyer, a newly married couple or you're simply moving to a new neighborhood, a housewarming party is a way to celebrate and fill the new dwelling with love and memories. Here are some fun themes and tips to help make your party more interesting.

Housewarming Party Theme Ideas

Paint Chips

  • Paint samples from the home improvement store are a whimsical way to add style to your party. Add color and a focal point with a variety of paint chip decorations.
  • If you have a lot of guests who don't know each other, distribute two of each color and let each recipient pair up to meet someone new.
  • You can also use the different colors to label food stations. Yellow for drinks, red for main meal items and blue for desserts.
  • Purchase empty paint cans from the craft store and use them to hold chips and snacks. Wooden crates make great table risers to hold serving platters and bowls.
  • Use mini paint cans to hold small party favors.

Quick Tip

Febreze® Surround your guests–and yourself–with the freshness of the season with Febreze® NOTICEables™, a scented oil warmer that you simply plug into any outlet. It helps eliminate odors from the air and comes in spring scents like Brilliant Spring Blossom, White Orchid & Bloom and Kiwi Berry Breeze and Alaskan Springtime.

Keys

  • Use keys as a theme to represent your new place! Include them in the invitations, décor and party favors.
  • Find vintage-style keys at craft stores and place one inside each envelope when sending invitations. You could even tie the invitation to the key handle.
  • Use rubber stamps with a key motif to add a decorative touch to place cards, food labels, cocktail napkins and small favor bags.
  • Hand out door prizes to lucky key holders. Number or paint them different colors using spray paint, then draw winners at random.

Stock the Kitchen

Tip: You could also use this theme as a way to collect donations for a local food bank.

Quick Tip

Febreze For both big and small gatherings, clean floors before, during and after the festivities quicker with Swiffer® Sweeper. Wet cloths trap and lock dirt to clean better than a mop and bucket in half the time. And now: Swiffer refills with the scent of Gain®!

More Theme Ideas

  • Mount small metal house numbers from the hardware store to long wooden skewers with glue. Insert them into flower arrangements.
  • Print out thank you tags with your new address. Tie onto favors so each guest has your new mailing address.
  • Invite a few neighbors from your new neighborhood so you can meet them in your own comfortable setting.

Gifting Tip: If you're invited to a housewarming party, bring a set of DIY baked mugs or a personalized welcome mat to the new homeowners.

Quick Tip

Charmin Before you welcome guests into your home, be sure to stock up on essentials like toilet paper. Charmin® Sensitive is dermatologist tested to be gentle on sensitive skin. That's because only Charmin Sensitive has soothing lotion with a touch of Aloe & E.
