Dressing up doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Take a look at this collection of easy-to-make masks, and let your imagination—not your wallet—run wild.

Embellish store-bought masks, or make your own from scratch—it’s easy with our free mask templates. Just download and print, then trace onto paper or felt. Before cutting out, measure the size of and space between the eyes of the wearer and draw on holes that correspond. Lastly, decorate as desired. Here, 7 styles to spark your creativity:

 Paper Animal Masks

Paper Animal Masks

Take a trip to the zoo without leaving home! Glue your favorite animal’s features, cut from construction paper, to a paper mask. Take note: Creatures defined by simple characteristics—bird beaks, raccoon eyes, elephant trunks, lion manes—are easiest to craft.

 Fun Felt Masks

Disguise yourself in soft, colorful felt. Simply glue or stitch shapes like festive leaves or darling flowers onto a felt mask made from our template. Alternatively, use our outline as a starting point, drawing on butterfly wings or scalloped edges before cutting it out.

 Embellished Store-Bought Masks

Purchase plain masks from your local craft store—usually packs are the best bargain—then accent them with, well, just about anything. For starters, fabric, feathers, paper butterflies, circles, sequins, craft gems, glitter, faux florals and paint chip cutouts.

 Quick Tip

Making masks is just as fun as wearing them, but the same can’t be said for the messes left behind. Keep Swiffer® SweeperVac® on hand to clean up scraps of paper, glitter and other big and small bits and pieces that may have fallen to the floor while crafting.

 Paper Plate Masks

Need a last-minute costume? Just open the pantry. With scissors and creativity, ordinary paper plates become one-of-a-kind masks. Color, paint or use construction paper to create faces. For Halloween, we love spooky skeletons, glow-in-the-dark ghosts, witches and pumpkins.

 Superhero Masks

Let kids dream up superpowers, picking designs—stars, lightning bolts, wings—to represent them. Then, make felt masks that match. And don’t forget yourself—you deserve a superpower too. Being able to clean at the speed of light? We’ll make a mask to that!

 Mask Party Favors

Delight fall party guests with mask-making kits. Just tie pouches of leftover craft supplies—buttons, ribbons, fabric scraps—to store-bought masks. Or buy packs of masks, ask guests to bring over embellishments and craft them together.

 Masked Pumpkins

Why can’t pumpkins dress up for Halloween, too? Stretch any mask around them, and they’re ready to greet trick-or-treaters. Go spooky with a black felt mask made from our free bat template, or up the autumn elegance with a mask made of leaves.

Tip: Glue your mask to a wooden dowel, chopstick or straw, and hold it in front of you masquerade style. Or wear it: Punch holes in both sides, then tie on a loop of elastic. Measure your head first to ensure it fits.

What’s your favorite Halloween costume, that you’ve worn or wanted to wear?
