It shouldn’t be a stressful task to host this party because it’s all about having fun and pampering yourself and your friends. Use our helpful party planning ideas to effortlessly create a relaxing spa in your home on a small budget.
Step 1: Send Party Invites
Email invites are a simple, low-cost solution for inviting friends to your party. There are many pre-made templates on the web or feel free to craft a short message of your own. You can easily keep track of responses and follow-up with a friendly reminder call.
This is also the perfect time to ask your friends to bring a few items to the party, such as favorite nail polishes for manicures and pedicures and summer photos to share.
Send your invites at least 3 weeks in advance so everyone has plenty of time to save the date and get the items they plan to bring together.
Step 2: Shopping for Spa Essentials
To re-create the spa atmosphere in your home you’ll need to shop for a few basics. You should have no problem finding all the items on our list at your neighborhood grocery store or around your home.
You’ll also want to determine if you want to enlist the services of a professional massage therapist for your party so you can schedule him or her in advance. Simple chair massages are usually fairly inexpensive and with everyone chipping in, this spa upgrade should be very affordable. If you do decide to add this option let your friends know before the party date.
Step 3: Set Up Your At-Home Spa
Create a relaxing sanctuary by finding a comfortable, quiet room with plenty of seating. If possible, dim the lights and put on soothing music. Lighting several candles with calming scents will also help instill a peaceful atmosphere in the room.
For an added touch, you can scatter fresh flowers throughout the space or place some vases in the area. Put out a few magazines for lounging and reading, and edible goodies for snacking between catching up with your friends.
Step 4: Set Up Spa Stations
You can also create manicure, pedicure and massage stations for everyone to rotate through. Use a few small tables with fluffy towels, nail files, cotton balls, nail polish remover, lotion etc. and have friends who are especially talented at French manicures or other techniques stationed at the tables. Make sure they get a break for spa treatments too.
For a more laid back approach feel free to just hang out in your calming spa space to do each other’s nails, talk, snack and relax together.
If you do schedule a massage therapist you will want to set up a separate area or small room for a more personal experience. Draw the curtains and place a candle nearby so your friends’ massage time is rejuvenating and free from distractions.

Step 5: Preparing Your Spa Snacks
This is another area where you should definitely keep things simple. Put the emphasis on light healthy snacks and plenty of hydration. Here are a few ideas for treats and drinks to serve your spa mavens:
Cut out the caffeine for a day with calming herbal teas. Offer a few options such as chamomile, linden, lavender, lemongrass or a relaxing herbal blend. If you’d rather cool it down you can also offer up flavored herbal iced tea with this recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
Directions: Place tea bags in water. Let steep overnight if possible; the longer you steep the stronger the tea will be. Add ice. Sweeten with sugar to taste and add lemon wedges to garnish.
Put together a few platters with healthy bite-sized indulgences. Dark chocolate is actually a potent antioxidant and contains cocoa phenols, which can lower blood pressure. Combine dark chocolate wedges with summery fruits like strawberries, pineapple and melon for no-hassle spa snacking.
Step 6: Simple Spa Activities
Spend some time sharing special summer moments and stories between your spa treatments by passing around fun summer photos from the past few months.
For an inexpensive activity that your friends can enjoy and take with them, hand out colorful index cards or pretty stationery to each attendee. Before the end of the party, ask everyone to write down meaningful and inspiring affirmation messages for each other. They’ll be able to look back on these heart-felt notes and feel good about the fun day you shared together.
