When you get together with friends for a project, it gets done quicker and better than if you'd done it on your own. And when you and your friends get together, there's no limit to the fun you'll have! That's the purpose of the newest section of our site: Home Mavens. Each month, Home Made Simple subscribers can expect great project ideas that they'll love completing with their friends or family. Here's a great scrapbooking project for you and your friends to work on together:

Save Shared Memories

Scrapbooks are a great way to save and share memories. Bring different elements together-from photographs to ticket stubs to decorative accents-to showcase cherished experiences. You can tell a story on every page.

Get together with your Home Maven friends and choose a shared experience to chronicle in your scrapbook, like a neighborhood party or a family get together.

Purchase all the supplies you need to create your scrapbook. Perhaps one member of the group can be placed in charge of this part of the process. A downloadable list of scrapbooking supplies is available here.

Step 2: What's In

Sit down with your group and go through your photos. Start picking out the ones you want to be sure to include. There's no need to use all the pictures you have, just enough to capture the memory.

Step 3: Colors

Step 4: Words

Have one member of the group concentrate on writing some words to go along with each page. These journaling elements should be short and get across the idea of what the pictures on the page are there for. It could be a short headline, or a couple of sentences offering more detail. Avoid just explaining the pictures, let them speak for themselves. Instead, reflect on why your group felt that image was worth including.

Step 5: Fun Font

Decide on a fun font for the journaling elements and print them from your computer. Some fonts worth considering are Herculanum, Desdemona, Lucida Handwriting, and Stencil.

Get creative and add small decorations to your pages. You can use anything that fits on the page, but be careful not to overdo it. Think of ribbons, buttons, yarn, stickers, plastic or metal accents, beads or anything else that you can find that fits the theme.

Step 7: Layout

As a group, layout all of these elements on a page and come to a consensus on the look before you start gluing. Also, glue layout elements similar to the ones used on the inside pages to the front of the album to create pretty album covers.

Step 8: Copies

When you're done, take each page to a copy center and make high-quality color copies for each member of the group. That way you all can have the same scrapbook in your home and cherish the memories forever.
