MATERIALS
Small glass bowl*
Glass candlesticks
Glass glue**

*Tip: Use unloved bowls and candlesticks you already have on hand, or have fun shopping in the glassware aisle at your local thrift or dollar store.

**Tip: Choose glue that is designed to attach non-porous surfaces together, such as E-6000. You can find it in the adhesive section of your local craft store or big-box retailer.

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Remove any tags on bowl and candlestick. Wash them thoroughly with soap and water and dry.
  2. Turn bowl over on your work surface so the bottom is facing upward.
  3. Put a line of glass glue around the rim of the candlestick, and also in the center of the bowl's bottom.
  4. Turn the candlestick over and place the glue-side down on the center of the bowl's bottom.
  5. Allow to dry, untouched, for at least an hour, and let it cure overnight before use.

Quick Tip

Dawn Prior to painting or decorating with pitchers, vases and other dishware, hand wash them with Dawn® Ultra dishwashing liquid with active suds. It cleans 2X more greasy dishes*, and helps keep suds stronger for longer.
*per drop vs. the leading non-concentrated brand.

Candy Dish Embellishments

Tip: Line the dish with a coffee filter if serving unwrapped candies.

  • Tinted Glass: Mix one part water to two parts decoupage glue, plus several drops of food coloring. Paint the mixture onto your dish to create a faux tinted glass effect. We love cranberry, turquoise or amber.
  • Polka Dots: Use a round foam brush (also called a pouncer) to create polka dots on the candy dish. Dip the brush in glass paint, then start dotting around the dish.
  • Victorian Style: Use a vintage teacup and ceramic candlestick for a more romantic touch.
  • Paint Dipping: Give the candlestick a quick dip in paint, then allow it to dry. Attach the dish to the top according to the instructions above for a colorful, simple embellishment.

Gifting Tip: Create a good impression when attending holiday parties by packaging treats in a crafted candy dish. Wrap it in a cellophane gift basket bag and close with red and white baker's twine. Or get inspired by some of our creative packaging ideas.
