For more than 30 years, Dawn® has been dedicated to helping save oiled birds and marine wildlife from both natural and man-made environmental events, making it a trusted choice for wildlife experts. And whether at home or in the classroom, kids can also learn the importance of helping to rescue and save wildlife with Dawn’s Junior Wildlife Champions program.

Junior Wildlife Program

The Junior Wildlife Champions education and activity program encourages children, parents and teachers to explore the impact of oil spills on wildlife and get involved in their own ways. Lesson plans and activities are available to educators and parents in English and Espanol at facebook.com/dawnsaveswildlife. These lesson plans and experiments are a great way to inspire kids to help support wildlife as one of Dawn’s 1 million Junior Wildlife Champions!

More Ways to Appreciate Wildlife

Help children support wildlife and the world around them with fun activities from Home Made Simple that celebrate conservation.

  • Craft a nature appreciation scrapbook: Grab a camera and take kids on a nature walk. Let them snap photos of animals, plants or anything they find interesting. Once the photos are printed, create a scrapbook that documents their favorite sights around home.
  • Make leaf prints: Take fallen leaves, brush a coat of water colors onto the back, then press each leaf against a piece of paper to make a print. Using a plant identification guide, available at a library, help kids match the plant it belongs to.
  • Spot animals’ homes: Take a hike through a forest and point out the many homes of animals. Trees with holes, bird nests and holes in the ground are often home to wildlife. Stress the importance of conservation by encouraging children to merely act as observers.
  • Consult an expert: Arrange to meet with an area wildlife expert and take a tour around a forest, lake, nature preserve or other natural environment. You’ll learn a lot of new information that’s specific to your own backyard.

dawnIncreasing children’s awareness of current events is easy and educational, especially if you empower them to promote positive changes in their own ways. To learn more about Dawn’s Junior Wildlife Champions program, visit facebook.com/dawnsaveswildlife.
