FAQ:

What Is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and it uses a special kind of web coding called XML to publish information online. Basically, the XML creates "news feeds" that contain a summary and links of the new content that has been published on a web site. For example, Home Made Simple may publish an RSS feed that contains its latest recipes.

What Does RSS Mean for Home Made Simple?

By supplying RSS codes on Home Made Simple, you can "subscribe" to our feeds and automatically receive updates on your computer about new content on the site.

Why Would I Want to Subscribe to an RSS?

The advantages of RSS are simple: They save time by bringing new ideas from Home Made Simple straight to you and they save bandwidth (the amount of information that can travel from a website to your computer). Instead of remembering to visit your favorite web site, the latest and greatest comes directly into your computer daily or at whatever interval you want.

Most RSS feeds contain just links, headlines, or brief synopsis of new information only. That means the small amount of Web data can also be sent to any XML-compatible device: a cell phone, pager, or handheld computer, without a long download process.

How Can I Get Home Made Simple RSS Feeds?

First, you need a feed reader. Simply do a quick search for "RSS Feed Readers" using your favorite search engine to get a list of software options, many are free or a small cost.

Once you have a feed reader, subscribing to an RSS feed is as simple as looking for the orange RSS feed link at the top of the page. Most Web sites that publish an RSS feed will display a tiny orange box or button labeled "RSS" or "XML".

Click the feed link and then choose the news feeds you are interested in and your Web browser will display a page of cryptic XML code. Just copy the Web "address" or URL of that page and paste it into your feed reader. The software will then automatically retrieve and display the latest information from Home Made Simple.
