Repurposed Garden Hose Wreath

    Perfect for the avid gardener or outdoor enthusiast, a garden hose wreath adds character to any doorway. And with the endless possibilities for embellishments, it’s easy to switch up the style of your wreath each season. Make one for your door, or craft a few as festive gifts!

From Garden Hose to Wreath
To create the base of the wreath, all you need is a garden hose, red or green, new or used. Wrap the hose from your hand to elbow 3 - 4 times and use heavy-duty garden clippers or scissors to cut the remaining hose, making sure to leave the nozzle attached. When securing the loops together with floral wire, there’s no need to make the wreath shape too neat since you’ll want visitors to recognize it’s a hose.

Tip: Don't throw the rest of the hose away. With a 50-foot hose, there's enough for two more wreaths!

Embellishments
Once you have your wreath, start by wiring greens (artificial or real) to the top and halfway down the sides. Floral wire and a glue gun will allow you to attach your desired accents.

When incorporating embellishments, the possibilities are endless. Try using some of these ideas as part of a theme, or combine a variety to create your own unique piece:

  • Terracotta pots- painted or natural
  • Twigs- painted or natural
  • Artificial reeds & stems
  • Artificial leaves (swags)
  • Artificial bird nest
  • Gardener’s glove
  • Seed packets
  • Garden tools
  • Pinecones
  • Burlap
Tip: By coating pinecones with peanut butter, followed by birdseed, you can attach the pinecones to your wreath and hang it in your backyard as a decorative birdfeeder.
