This season, it’s all about affordable holiday décor, favors and gifts. Get a lot of cheer for a lovely little price by filling glass ball ornaments (a 10-pack costs under $5 at many craft stores!) with your favorite fillings, then use them in creative ways.

Glass Ball Ornaments
You can fill glass ball ornaments with just about anything, but for easy hanging, choose lightweight items:

Tip: Be sure your fillings are small enough to fit through the neck of the ornament.

Materials
Glass ball ornaments, size(s) of your choice
Small funnel, optional
Fillings
Ornament hooks

Instructions
  1. Take metal tops off ornaments and set aside.
  2. Carefully fill ornaments. Use a funnel or rolled up piece of paper to help guide the filling through the neck of the ornament, if desired.
  3. Replace the metal tops, then attach an ornament hook.

Ways to Use Glass Ball Ornaments
From decorating to gifting, there are plenty of uses for your ornaments:

  • Décor: Try tying festive-hued ribbon to the ornament hooks, then hang them at varying heights in front of windows—when the light hits them, they’ll shimmer beautifully. Or suspend clusters of ornaments from chair backs, doorways and mantels.
  • Party Favors: Choose fillings that match your celebration’s color scheme, then arrange them in a basket or bowl and let each person pick their favorite. For a pretty place setting, write guests’ names on paper tags, tie each to an ornament with colorful ribbon or yarn, then perch atop napkin-lined plates.
  • Gifts: Personalize sets of ornaments for loved ones based on their interests. For gardeners, use nature-inspired items, like sprigs of evergreen or bits of twine. Give crafty pals a set of button- and yarn-filled ornaments, and delight foodie friends with dried herb ornaments.
