With a little creativity, simple wooden boxes become creative storage containers. Follow our easy step-by-step instructions to decoupage your own.

Materials
  • Old newspaper
  • Wood storage boxes
  • Cloth, for cleaning
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Foam brush
  • Glossy decoupage medium
  • Craft stick
  • Acrylic spray sealer
Tip: We love to decoupage with old magazines, wrapping paper and road maps, but feel free to repurpose whatever paper goods you have lying around.

Instructions
  1. On a flat, clean work surface lined with newspaper, wipe the box down with a damp cloth to clean.
  2. Cut paper into strips, hearts, circles or your favorite shape. Brush box with a thin layer of decoupage medium, then glue down your cutouts. Use a craft stick to smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles. Repeat until covered.
  3. Brush finished surface with decoupage medium. Repeat 3 times, letting the surface dry between each coat. Then apply a final coat of acrylic spray sealer.
Tip: To help you visualize your pattern and figure out the amount of cutouts and glue you'll need, arrange your cutouts on the box before gluing them down.
